Prevalence of Immunity to Rubella in the Antenatal Women

This project was sponsored by the state committee on Science Technology and Environment(STEC), Govt of Kerala. The project completed sucessfully, conducted detailed investigation on the prevalence of immunity to rubella in antenatal women and the correlation of congenital deafness of children born to nonimmune mothers.
It has been well establishied that a major cause of congenital deafness is rubella infection of antenatal women in their first trimester of pregnancy. The project threw light on the need for universal vaccination of girls during pubertorial period.
